About Us

At Furze Platt Junior School, the Inclusion Manager provides strategic direction and helps set the vision and ethos for all aspects of school life relating to children with SEND. The Inclusion Team play a major role in contributing to the raising of standards for all children with SEND ensuring inclusive practice and equality of opportunity for all. The Inclusion Manager takes the lead in ensuring interventions for the pastoral needs of pupils, including managing pupil behaviour are implemented and appropriate systems are used to track, monitor and evaluate pupil progress.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Inclusion Manager is responsible for the team of staff who support pupils with SEND within school. The Inclusion Team liaise with all agencies including educational psychologists, school health service, social services, speech therapists, E.W.O., Specialist Teachers, well-being team, counsellors, CAHMS and arrange support for pupils with behaviour needs. The Inclusion Manager also enables strong and effective partnerships with parents, keeping them well informed of targets and achievement.

In December 2018, SEND provision within the school was judged to be outstanding.

“The inclusion manager ensures that staff take ownership of the support and progress of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Staff are imbued with a desire to do the right thing for these pupils. Interventions to help pupils are thoughtful, reviewed and realigned regularly to provide exceptional support. Pupils with SEND are thriving.” Ofsted December 2019

In February 2024, SEND provision within the school continued to support all learners.

"There are appropriate processes in place to identify pupils’ needs. Pupils in the specially resourced provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) benefit from support shaped thoughtfully around their needs and individual targets. During lessons, staff support pupils who have barriers to learning, including pupils with SEND, so that they can access the curriculum."
