The Federation Leadership Team and Governors wish to appoint an excellent teacher, with SEND experience, to join Furze Platt Primary Federation as the teacher in charge of our Resource Base for children diagnosed with Autism (ASD/ASC).
The successful candidate will:
The Everest centre is a well-established, successful resource base for 10 children with autism.
The children spend up to 50% of their day in the base (less at KS2), with the remaining time in mainstream classes. The base is supported by 3 teaching assistants who lead sessions in the base and provide additional support in mainstream classes.
With an established framework for planning and assessment, the manager will deliver 1:1, small group, and topic-based sessions tailored to the children's needs.
The role also includes time for planning, preparation, and assessment (PPA), management duties such as adjusting plans, observing students in their classes, supporting other staff, collaborating with external specialists, conducting annual reviews, and responding to consultations for new placements. Comprehensive support and a handover will be provided, along with training in any areas of the role if necessary.
